Still Thirsty For Trubisky?

THIS IS NOT A SLANDER PIECE!

I wanted to make this loud and clear before I get into the topic of Mitchell Trubisky. It seems that anytime the word “Trubisky” is mentioned, negative connotations seem to follow. Even though I believe some negative connotations are justified.

In the 2017 NFL Draft the Chicago Bears were eager to find their next franchise quarterback. In 8 disappointing years of Jay Cutler (A BUM), they were willing to do anything to get a Superstar QB. So much so, that they traded their 3rd, 67th, 111th, and Third round pick of the 2018 NFL Draft to the San Francisco 49ers. They were desperate, and from the vast talent of QB Superstars in the 2017 class (Patrick Mahomes and DeShaun Watson), one name stood out... MITCHELL TRUBISKY.

“My God!” they exclaimed, “what a name for a Chicago Bears’ Quarterback!”

His style, his name, his junior year of college performance (3,748 yards, 30 TDs, and 157.9 Passer Rating), and his moustache created the perfect potential for a Chicago Bears QB Prodigy!

In 2018, the Chicago Bears gave their fans one hell of a season and the hope for a bright new future for the franchise. With their stellar defense, Coach of the Year Matt Nagy, and Mitch, they felt the Lombardi trophy coming to the Windy City in 2019. Anything short was a disappointment.

Unfortunately, for Bear fans (such as myself) we witnessed our team plunge into mediocrity. They have failed in all expectations this year. With multiple theories to why the Bears aren’t doing well, there is only one obvious factor that we simply cannot ignore. The offense. The Bears are currently ranked at 29th for total offensive yards behind the New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals.

Is Mitch to blame? In some ways...Yes! Half of the time he seems like a deer in headlights not knowing what’s going on, overthrown passes, and multiple interceptions. Then in some games we see an elite quarterback magically appear wearing Mitch’s number. Bottom line... he is inconsistent.

Part of the blame I place on the organization. While pampering Trubisky with all the hype, twitter, and Instagram posts about how great he was back in 2018, they forgot one little thing... He still needs to produce! Ya know? Win future GAMES!

Again, not a SLANDER PIECE! Personally, I like Trubisky, his name alone would make a great sausage company, I believe he has an aurora that screams Chicago Bears, and in some cases I think he could be a consistent, elite quarterback, someday. Honestly, I wish he was ready to be our superstar QB, but sadly, he just isn’t.

One can say he’s getting better considering the last two victories over the Lions and Cowboys...

*LOVED THE VICTORY OVER THE COWBOYS!

Beating Jerry Jones, not only made me proud to be a Bears’ fan, but gave me an optimistic outlook of possibly sliding into the Wild Card spot for the NFC. Trubisky gave us two great performances over the past two weeks. He finally woke up, but isn’t it a little too late for Mitch? My optimistic side says, “No! He’s going to keep maturing, get us to the NFC wildcard spot, and come back next year as an elite quarterback!”

Realistically with Mack, Hicks, and the rest of our elite defense, we don't have time to waste. We need a QB that can be consistent every game.

But like I say, “Who knows?” He could win the next four games and change my mind, which is highly unlikely, but it can happen. Time will tell.

I will end this article with a statement that we all can agree on... He’s better than Jay Cutler.

Then again... who isn’t?
