When you think about the Cincinnati Reds, you think of a losing baseball team. The Reds have been that way for the past several seasons finishing either 4th or 5th place in their division the past 6 seasons. With several transactions over the years, shipping key players off to other teams, left Red’s fans wondering, who will we keep and who is going to help us win some ball games?
Bring in Mike Moustakas aka Moose, a 3x All Star, World Series Champion, and AL Comeback Player Of The Year when he played for the Royals. He is an offensive power threat and can play seemingly any position you put him at defensively on the Diamond. The Red’s are hoping Moose will bring power to an offense that is already developing nicely with Suarez, Aquino, Votto, and Winker. This season could be a big bounce back season for Cincinnati letting them get back into the playoff mix. Lately they have been like a beautiful puzzle without all the pieces. But Cincinnati did well by finding another Moose sized piece to fit into the puzzle.
Here are some positive notes from the last season: Eugenio Suarez, who blasted 49 home runs and 103 RBIs. The Punisher, being called up from the Triple A Louisville Bats, brought a lot of exciting moments with tons of home runs blasted the last 2 months of the season. Finally, the Bullpen played great this past season as well, which is a key success point for the Reds.
There is a lot of positiveness swarming around the Reds and this signing but there is still a lot to prove. Moose will have a lot of pressure on him to bring the Reds back to life because he signed a big check for a good amount of time. There will be high expectations for a strong start as well. Will Cincinnati make it the playoffs next year? No one knows right now but the direction of this ball club looks positive. Let's hope they land a few more pieces and the farm system keeps developing some nice talent in Triple A.
Let’s wrap this up, The Red’s have the most loyal fans in the game and are venturing into their 151st season. If you can make it in Cincinnati and leave an impact with the bat or glove, I always believe you will become a legend to Cincinnati and Red’s fans all over.
